Important Dates & Tax Sale Information


General Public

2010 property tax bills that were due December 31, 2010 have been issued Certificates of Delinquency (delinquent tax bills that have a lien filed against the property).  These Certificates were transferred to the County Clerk’s office for collection after the close of business on April 15th.

The Fayette County Clerk's Office will only accept payments as follows:  Cash, Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Certified Check

Interest is added at 1% per month for a total of 12% interest per year

April 20, 2011          Collection of the Certificate of Delinquencies 
April 21 - Arpil 27                     County Attorney fee (20%) is waived
June 20, 2011     Certificates of Delinquency advertised in newspaper and on Fayette County Clerk's Website. This increases the cost to $42 per bill, once advertised
Thru July 21st         Only the property owner, one paying on behalf of a property owner, or one with a financial interest in the property is allowed to pay the tax bill
July 22, 2011 Third Party purchasers are allowed to purchase certificates of delinquency. Sale begins at 9:00 am 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By July 5, 2011 contact the Fayette County Attorney's Office at 859-254-4941 if you wish to set up a payment plan for the Certificate of Delinquency. 

You can see the amount due on your Certificate of Delinquency by selecting the Delinquent Tax Calculator.  You can inquire by name, bill number, account number or address. 

 
Third Party Purchaser
                    The Fayette County Clerk's office tax sale is July 22, 2011.

 

 

 

 

  

May 23, 2011              Third party must be registered with the Revenue Department in order to participate in Fayette County’s sale
June 20, 2011 Certificates of Delinquency advertised in newspaper and on Fayette County Clerk's Website – The dates listed are the range that the advertisement can be run
July 12, 2011 County Attorney to provide list of protected certificates
July 12, 2011 Registration and list of priority certificates
July 12, 2011 Registration and list of certificates of delinquency
July 12, 2011 100% deposit of priority certificates of delinquency and 25% deposit of certificates of delinquency (Certified Checks required)
July 22, 2011 9:00 am Tax Sale begins (Certified Checks required)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements for Priority Lists
If over 25 bills the list must be presented in Excel using the following format: 
 

 

   Account No. Prior Tax Year  Prior Tax Bill No. Taxpayer Name  Property Address  Amount

 

If under 25 bills may be presented in Excel or hard copy
