Recording Notification Service –

COMING SOON

The Fayette County Clerk’s Office is preparing to offer a free Recording Notification Service (RNS), often referred to as ‘fraud alert,’ that allows members of the public to sign up to receive an email alert when a document is recorded in our office affecting property located in Fayette County.

You will receive alerts for any exact matches of names or name variations that you register.  You may register up to 10 items per email address.

Notifications will be received only for documents recorded in the Clerk’s Office after you subscribe to the service.

We will provide a link once the service is live.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Recording Notification Service?

  • The RNS is a free service for property owners to track documents filed into the official public records of the Fayette County Clerk’s Office.  Users can register to receive alerts for individual names, business names, address, etc., as search terms.  There is no guarantee that using this service will inform you of all documents recorded that may pertain to your property.

Is there a fee to subscribe to the RNS?

  •  No, it is a free service.

What kinds of documents are associated with this service?

  • Any documents that are filed into the land records, such as deeds, mortgages, judgment liens, or other encumbrances.

Can I register to get notified for my parents’ property?

  • Yes, a user can register up to 10 names or properties for each subscribed email address.

How will I be alerted if something is recorded that meets my requested search terms?

  • You will receive an email with document information.  You can view any of our recorded land records at any time at www.fayettedeeds.com.

How should I register to search for my name?

  • You may want to register all possible variations of your name, i.e. Smith Jane, Smith Jane B, Smith Jane Burch.  If you primarily go by a nickname, such as Meg for Margaret, or Bill for William, you may want to register that variation, also.

Can I unsubscribe from the service or edit the names being monitored?

  • Yes, follow the link to the site and follow the instructions through 'Update Subscription.'

What do I do if I believe I may be the victim of property fraud?

  • Contact the Lexington Police Department at 859-258-3600 and your attorney or legal advisor.  The County Clerk is unable to take legal action on your behalf.

If a document is proven fraudulent, can it be removed from the records?

  • No document can be removed from the records without a court order.  You are urged to contact local law enforcement and legal counsel to take appropriate action if fraud is suspected.

What can I do to protect myself from property fraud?

  • Check the official records at www.fayettedeeds.com for anything recorded in your name or for your property.  Keep in mind that the documents are indexed as presented, so if a street address is not included as a part of the document, it is not added.
  •  If your property is vacant, check often to make sure it is not illegally occupied.
  • Ask someone you trust to look after your property if you are away for an extended period of time.
  • Make sure the Fayette Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office have your correct mailing address for any official notices and tax bill.
